In my opinion to make a Kydex sheath that is guaranteed to fit your *exact* knife its necessary to have the knife on hand and custom mold the Kydex to that specific knife. Having the same model of knife on hand to use is not the same as having the exact knife on hand. Manufacturers continually change grinds, and other profile changes that could make a big difference between a perfect fit, and an almost perfect sheath fit, or a sloppy fit.
